Pool Service Technician

Work under general supervision, to perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on swimming pools, facilities, and related equipment; and to perform related work as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot pumps, filters, heaters, vacuum pumps, valves, and other pool systems; repair and service chlorine pumps; and check operating condition of pool equipment for safety.
  • Take readings of pool water chemistry and condition such as, sanitizer and pH, and add chemicals as appropriate.
  • Remove pool covers; clean decks, drains, tiles, bottom, and sides of pool using vacuums and brushes; drain pools for acid wash
  • Examine work orders and maintain logs and records.
  • Order materials from vendors.
  • Perform related work as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

  • Proper methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in swimming pool maintenance.
  • Basic principles of electricity, plumbing and hydraulics applicable to pumps, vacuums, chlorinators, and pool heaters.
  • Swimming pool chemistry for water balance and maintenance.
  • Simple record keeping.
  • Appropriate safety precautions and procedures.
  • Speak and write English.
  • Possession of a current Ontario Driver’s License, own vehicle, and proof of insurance.
  • Obtain and maintain status of licenses and certificates necessary to perform the duties of this position.
